With the sharp increase of foreign tourists arriving from abroad, Kansai International Airport has decided to urgently improve the quality of their services.

In 2014, the international flight passengers number reached a record 13.52 million – 41 percent more than in 2013 and now surpassing the number of Japanese tourists for the first time since 1994, when the airport opened.

With tourists often landing overnight or in the early hours, Kansai International is aiming to improve convenience for these passengers often stuck in the arrivals lounge. More space for those travelers who need to rest will be made available and a 24-hour limousine bus to Osaka will be launched. Two hundred new seats and a sleeping area of 550m² will be added as well, alongside a boost in the number of pay showers.
