Contemporary art around Ryotsu Port

Kim Bergström   - 1 min read

Known for its pristine natural landscapes and longstanding cultural traditions, Niigata's Sado Island is no slouch on the art scene, either. GALAXY SADO ART 2026 brings contemporary art to venues across the island, with exhibitions running from September 12 to November 15.

The festival features artists including Ryuta Ushiro, Tsubasa Kato, Naohiro Ukawa, and Shiori Watanabe, with works exploring Sado's history, nature, and cultural heritage. Alongside the exhibitions, visitors can enjoy events, tours, and immersive experiences that bring together contemporary art and the island's distinctive cultural landscape.
