Tokyo Starry Sky and Light Summer Festival 2026

A new summer tradition at Showa Kinen Park

Tokyo is set to welcome a spectacular new summer tradition in August as the Tokyo Starry Sky and Light Summer Festival debuts at Showa Memorial Park. The evening event promises a magical combination of lights, entertainment and outdoor fun in one of the capital's largest green spaces.

Held at the park's expansive Minna no Harappa (Everyone's Meadow), the festival transforms the natural setting into an immersive nighttime experience. Visitors can look forward to dazzling drone performances, synchronized music fireworks, illuminated landscapes, live entertainment and a variety of food trucks, all designed to encourage guests to slow down and enjoy a summer evening beneath the stars.

One of the festival's biggest highlights will be the Starry Sky Drone Theater, where 500 drones will create an original aerial light show inspired by the nature and stories of Showa Memorial Park. The same fleet of drones previously wowed audiences during the Osaka-Kansai Expo, and they'll now take to the skies over western Tokyo twice each evening.

The grand finale comes with a music fireworks display, while other attractions include a glowing 100-year-old zelkova tree illuminated as a centerpiece, a lantern release experience using LED lanterns, a dedicated area for handheld fireworks, and a stage featuring live music and performances. More than 10 food trucks will also be on site, offering plenty of options for dinner or snacks as you wander the festival grounds.

Advance tickets are now on sale at a discount, with adult admission priced at 3,200 JPY and children's tickets from 1,800 JPY. On-the-day pricing is slightly higher, so keep that in mind if you're trying to save some yen. A limited number of premium experiences, including the lantern event and handheld fireworks area, can also be booked in advance.

For anyone visiting Tokyo this summer, it's an opportunity to experience the city's evenings in a completely different light, combining technology, nature and traditional summer festivities into one memorable night out.
