The Yambaru (also often written as Yanbaru) region of Okinawa refers to the northern part of the island which comprises the Higashi, Kunigami, and Ogimi villages. It's a region which is well-known for its natural beauty, being home to subtropical rainforests with unique flora and fauna – but they're also on the map for their art, too.
The Yambaru Art Festival is scheduled from late January until late February, and the multi-venue event will showcase a wide variety of works from different mediums including pottery, glassware, textiles, dyed fabrics, and woodwork items.
For those who can't attend in person, a number of different workshops, lectures, and other parts of the event will be broadcast online via the official website here.
