Le Musée national des sciences émergentes et de l’innovation, ou Musée du futur (Miraikan en japonais), est situé sur l'île artificielle d'Odaiba dans la baie de Tokyo. Il a été créé par l'Agence japonaise pour la science et la technologie en 2001 pour mettre en valeur les découvertes scientifiques et prospectives issues de divers domaines.
Vous trouverez par exemple les données du réseau de sismographes japonais affichées en temps réel, ce qui donne un aperçu concret de l'activité sismique au Japon. D'autres technologies d'avenir issues de la robotique et du développement automobile sont également présentées ici, ainsi que des informations et des expositions sur le thème des voyages dans l'espace. L'ancien astronaute japonais Mamoru Mori est d’ailleurs directeur du musée.
Le musée dispose également d'un restaurant, d'une boutique de souvenirs et du wifi gratuit. Des informations et des guides audios sont disponibles en anglais, japonais, coréen et chinois. Les groupes de 8 personnes ou plus bénéficient d'une réduction, mais doivent être enregistrés à l'avance.
