Question What You Think At This Unique Osaka Exhibition

Explore the sometimes blurry relationship between memory and reality

How good is your memory, really? An unusual interactive exhibition that challenges visitors to question what they think they know is heading to Osaka this November, following a successful run in Tokyo.

The Memory Contamination Exhibition (Kioku Osen-ten) will open on November 14, 2026, at the Taniguchi Etsu Building in Osaka's Honmachi district, running until January 24, 2027.

The exhibition explores the sometimes blurry relationship between memory and reality, asking visitors to consider how much they can really trust their own recollections. Its themes include the Mandela Effect, where large numbers of people share the same incorrect memory, as well as artificial intelligence hallucinations and the differences between personal recollections and recorded evidence.

Rather than simply reading information on display boards, visitors are encouraged to engage with the exhibits and make their own judgements about what is real and what they remember. The experience also explores how easily our understanding of the world can be influenced by information we encounter.

The concept clearly struck a chord with visitors in Tokyo. When the exhibition ran at Shibuya BEAM between August and September 2026, it attracted approximately 55,000 visitors over 36 days. The Osaka edition will build on the original exhibition, with some new elements and presentations adapted to the venue.

Admission costs 2,300 JPY in advance or 2,500 JPY at the door, with discounted tickets for visitors aged 60 and over. An optional audio guide is also available for an additional 990 JPY.
