Running for over seven decades in Yokosuka’s Kinugasayama Park, the Kinugasa Sakura Festival is a true celebration of Japan’s cherished cherry blossom season.

Highlights

  • One of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom spots
  • The festival’s venue is home to about 2,000 cherry trees
  • Nightly cherry blossom illuminations

Rightfully recognized as one of Japan’s Top 100 Cherry Blossom spots, the park is home to approximately 2,000 cherry trees and is regarded as one of Kanagawa’s best cherry blossom-viewing destinations! Here, you can admire a number of tree varieties, including the famed Somei Yoshino (Yoshino Cherry trees), Shidarezakura (Weeping Cherry trees), and more.

In addition to the park’s impressive collection of dainty blossoms, the event also hosts stage events, such as instrumental and dance performances, and features mouthwatering food trucks.

Be sure to also stick around after the sun sets! From 6pm to 8pm on March 28 to April 7, the park will illuminate the whimsical trees for an ethereal nighttime viewing experience. Please be aware that the festival will not hold illuminations on the last day of the festival (April 8).

Enjoy the spring season encircled by bright cherry blossoms in Yokosuka!
