Summer in Japan is a hot and humid time to travel, but limited-time icy treats make it all the more bearable. One of the biggest returns this August is Baskin-Robbins' annual Pokémon campaign, celebrating the franchise's 30th anniversary with themed ice cream, desserts, and collectibles.
Running from August 1st to August 31st, this year's "31 Poke Summer!" campaign celebrates the 30th anniversary of Pokémon Red and Green with a colorful lineup of limited-time flavors, desserts, and souvenirs available at Baskin-Robbins stores across the country.
Leading the collection is "Pikachu's Volt Tackle Pineapple Squash," a refreshing new flavor inspired by Pikachu's signature attack. Sweet pineapple sorbet is paired with crisp cider-flavored sorbet, while 31% more popping candy than usual adds a fizzy finish that's perfect for the sweltering summer weather.
The collaboration extends well beyond the ice cream. Pokémon-themed double cups feature Pikachu alongside starter Pokémon from every region introduced throughout the series, and each purchase comes with a randomly selected collectible spoon. Throughout the campaign, customers will also receive one of 30 special Pokémon stickers created to mark the anniversary, making every visit a little different.
Travelers looking for something beyond a cone or cup can also try the Poké Ball-inspired sundae, complete with a reusable Poké Ball container, or cool down with the Ditto Crush Soda, a colorful drink that changes from red and blue to purple as it's stirred. Families and groups can also pick up Pokémon Variety Boxes or the Pokémon Summer Special Set, which comes with exclusive packaging and two stainless steel souvenir spoons.
