Le zoo d'Ueno est le plus ancien zoo du Japon et l'une des plus grandes attractions du parc d'Ueno, à Tokyo. Le zoo a commencé comme une collection d'animaux sauvages attachée au Musée national d'histoire naturelle et a été ouvert pour la première fois en tant que zoo public en 1882. Depuis lors, le zoo s'est considérablement agrandi et abrite aujourd'hui plus de 3 000 animaux et 400 espèces différentes. Les pandas sont l'attrait principal du zoo d'Ueno car c’est une espèce protégée qui s’est reproduite avec succès. Le zoo d'Ueno est activement engagé dans la conservation des animaux sauvages.
Le zoo est divisé en deux sections, un parc ouest et un parc est, chacun présentant des espèces différentes. Les deux zones sont reliées par un pont. À l'est se trouvent les pandas, les éléphants d'Asie, un grand nombre d'ours et de plus gros mammifères tels que les gorilles, les tigres et les lions. Dans la zone ouest, il y a un zoo pour enfants et une maison de reptiles et amphibies. Cette zone se concentre également sur les animaux d'Afrique: rhinocéros, hippopotames, girafes et zèbres.
Une pagode de cinq étages et une maison de thé du XVIIe siècle complètent la visite du zoo et donnent à ce zoo historique une touche typiquement japonaise.
JR Ueno Station is a 5 minute walk from the Main Gate entrance and Benten Gate entrance. The Benten Gate can also be reached from Keisei Ueno Station (4-min) and Subway Ueno Station (8-min). The western Ikenohata Gate can als be reached from Nezu Station (5-min).

Le parc Ueno (Ueno Koen) dans le quartier Taito de Tokyo est un parc public qui accueille plus de 10 millions de visiteurs par an, et est le parc urbain le plus populaire du Japon. Tokyo Bunka Kaikan is a renowned concert hall located in Ueno Park, the green heart of Taito Ward. The hall opened in 1961 as a hub for arts and culture and has since played host to numerous operas, ballets, and classical concerts by both Japanese and international artists. The building itself is a feat of modern architecture and was designed by architect, Kunio Maekawa. The main hall, which features opera, ballet, and orchestral performances, is an impressive five stories high and contains 2,303 seats. Its modern interior is visually stunning, and its acoustics are world-renowned. The smaller recital hall, located on the second floor, has 649 seats and hosts almost daily chamber music concerts and recitals. In addition to its performance halls, Tokyo Bunka Kaikan is also home to an extensive music library, meeting rooms, rehearsal rooms, a restaurant, a cafe, a gift shop, and a Japanese goods and accessories store.
