If you've ever wandered through Japan and found yourself tempted by the rows of capsule toy machines lining train stations, shopping malls, and arcades, there's a good chance you've come across Qualia's creations. The Tokyo-based company has spent the past decade building a reputation for quirky capsule toys, with everything from cats clinging to pens to whimsical plush mascots becoming viral hits among collectors.
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Qualia is bringing its first-ever exhibition to Kyushu. Running from June 27 through July 12 at PARCO FACTORY inside Fukuoka PARCO, the Qualia 10th Anniversary Exhibition invites visitors to explore the company's colorful history through more than 200 capsule toys, ranging from beloved bestsellers to rare releases that are no longer easy to find.
Among the exhibition highlights is a giant version of Qualia's viral Cat Pen Holder figure, which became an internet sensation during the pandemic and now serves as a fun photo spot. Fans of the company's plush capsule toy brand, Nikkoriino, can also browse a special exhibition space celebrating its third anniversary, complete with oversized displays and a behind-the-scenes look at how some of the popular characters are created.
Of course, no capsule toy exhibition would be complete without the chance to spin a few machines yourself. Around 170 capsule toy machines will be available on-site, including nine brand-new releases and several event-exclusive designs. Visitors can also try the enormous two-meter-tall "Monster Capsule" machine for the chance to win oversized prizes.
The exhibition also features exclusive merchandise, advance sales of new capsule toys, and limited-edition 10th anniversary collectibles available only at the venue.
